How to research an exchange before transferring crypto

An exchange can make trading convenient, but convenience is not proof of safety. Use the same structured review before every new platform and repeat it when conditions change.

01

Separate compliance from product safety

A registration, reporting relationship, or legal entity can be a useful fact to verify. It does not by itself prove solvency, cyber-security, withdrawal availability, customer-service quality, or that an asset is appropriate for you.

02

Research the complete exit path

Before depositing, understand how you would withdraw INR and crypto, which networks are supported, the minimums and fees, waiting periods, identity requirements, and what the platform says happens during maintenance.

03

Eight questions to document

Access

Can you complete identity checks, secure the account, and recover access through an official process?

Withdrawals

Which assets and networks can be withdrawn, what are the limits and fees, and are there current restrictions?

Custody

Who controls assets and keys, and what does the platform say about segregation, storage, and risk?

Liquidity

Can your intended order size be executed without unexpected spread or slippage?

Support

Is there a verifiable ticket process, clear escalation route, and incident communication history?

Terms

What can trigger holds, account restrictions, delisting, closure, or changes to service?

Records

Can you export trades, deposits, withdrawals, fees, and tax-related statements?

Concentration

What happens to you if this single platform becomes unavailable tomorrow?

04

Run a small operational test

A controlled deposit, trade, and withdrawal can reveal identity checks, settlement time, network support, fees, and record quality. One successful test is useful evidence, but it is not a permanent guarantee.

05

Affiliate links do not change the checklist

CryptooChai may receive a commission from clearly labelled partner links. That commercial relationship should never replace your own review. Compare the destination, current terms, fees, eligibility, and risks before registering or transferring funds.
